Jo McNurlan is the primary instructor for the trainings at Yoga Jo's Studio. Since 2,000, Jo has accumulated over 300 hours of training as a yoga teacher, well over 5,000 hours teaching regular yoga classes and over 1,000 hours teaching teachers. She thrives on watching and figuring out how the body functions in space. Jo's motto of teaching is "you are truly teaching when you are learning from your student's"
Her massage carreer is equally sustained. It began in 1998 with 500 hours of training in Houston, Texas. She has accumulated another 140 hours in Structural Integration and over 60 hours in assorted other modalities. She has touched literally thousands of bodies over the years and has tried to learn something new from each person she touches.
The overall attitude at Yoga Jo's Studio is one of acceptance and growth. Everyone learns differently, teaches differently and interprets life differently. And no one at Yoga Jo's cares. Each student, trainee, person is treated with respect, irreverance and acceptance. The primary concerns here are safety and are you learning something. Whether that is how to bend forward safely or make the perfect rita.
As far as how the training is conducted - well slow is good. As Americans we tend to rush. Git 'er done and move on. Here I prefer to stop. Breathe. Integrate. Try again. Regurgitate. Try a different way. And keep at it until the knowledge is your's to keep instead of try to recall. I won't teach you a formula, I will teach you the why behind it so you can always find the answer on your own.
